Echinoderm Form

Echinoderm form is a piece begun as early as 2005 and worked on intermittently  since. This is the latest piece in a series begun in 1990. The work was loosely based on the form and colour of members of the echinoderm family (Sea urchins, sea biscuits and Starfish). I found it possible adapt their shells form and range of surface textures into turned and carved wooden forms. I am sure this families rich material will continue to challenge me to explore new  processes and techniques for many years to come.
