Basalt Alley at Waitangi Treaty Grounds (2018)
$735.00
Waitangi is a special place. Here a treaty was signed between the Maori people of New Zealand and the British Crown in 1840, laying the foundations for the state of New Zealand. A volcano active in ancient times produced a lava flow here, which formed an alley bordered by basalt columns. It leads into the sea and is protected by the twisted branches of a giant tree hanging over the alley. The view is spectacular, the place pure magic. I tried to incorporate both into this watercolour painting.
This watercolour is 45.5 x 30.5 cm in size and comes in an off-white mount.
